WHAT IS THE OLD TOWN FOOD TOUR?
This tour is your shortcut to understanding Warsaw via two of its strongest storytellers: food and the Old Town.
Over 2.5 hours we’ll walk a scenic route around the historic centre, stopping at several local venues where real life happens after the postcards: a traditional eatery, a cosy sit-down restaurant, a pastry shop and, a street food place and a pub. At each stop you’ll taste a different chapter of the city’s story, while your guide connects flavours with the history, culture and everyday habits of Warsaw residents.
Instead of racing from monument to monument, we slow down and let the city speak from the table. You’ll hear how Warsaw rebuilt itself, how scarcity shaped local creativity, and how today’s food scene still carries traces of both old traditions and the communist years. It’s part introduction to Warsaw, part dinner with a friend who happens to be a history-obsessed foodie.
WHAT WILL I EAT?
We start traditionally, with cold starters that introduce you to classic Polish flavours and regional twists. You’ll learn what makes these dishes distinctly local and why they have such a strong emotional pull for many Poles.
Next comes a selection of dumpling-style dishes, served with traditional toppings and sides. This is where you see how something seemingly simple turns into comfort food, shaped by climate, seasonality and home-cooking habits.
From there we move into the world of Polish street food, especially that which developed during the lean communist years. Your guide will show you how a lack of ingredients, long queues and state-run bars helped create snacks that are now part of Warsaw’s urban identity.
Because there’s always room for something sweet, we finish with a dessert that’s simple yet deeply rooted in the city’s DNA, followed by a glass of unique local beer that highlights Poland’s brewing culture.
Altogether you’ll enjoy around 10 tastings across five different Old Town venues – enough to count as a proper dinner, not just a “nibble as you walk” tour.
Which tour should i choose?
THE OLD TOWN FOOD TOUR
(shorter, simpler, more about place)
Choose this one if you want a compact introduction to Polish flavours and Warsaw’s oldest district. This tour mixes tastings with a walk along the Old Town walls and streets, offering simpler dishes, more street-food elements and a few sit-down stops. It’s an easy, flavour-driven entry point into Polish cuisine with the unique atmosphere of the Old Town.
Good for: travellers looking for a shorter, tasting-focused Old Town walk.
Duration: 2.5 hours
Distance walked: approx. 1.5 km during the experience.
THE FOOD TOUR
(longer, deeper, more premium)
Choose this one if you want the full picture of Warsaw’s food culture. We leave the Old Town and explore the real, lived-in centre of Warsaw, with more sit-down tastings, a wider and slightly more premium menu, and time to talk about food as culture, history and daily life. It’s the most complete look at how Poland and Warsaw eat.
Good for: travellers looking for a shorter, tasting-focused Old Town walk.
Duration: 4 hours
Distance walked: approx. 4 km during the experience.
